The Mid-Atlantic Show story...

Sports and other trading cards exploded in popularity when millions of collectors returned to the hobby during the pandemic.  While card values in the sizzling hobby began to cool in the summer of 2021, participation in sports card collecting continues to grow and expand.  The 43rd National Sports Collectors Convention in July 2023 was the largest ever, surpassing the record attendance at the 1991 National.

At the same time, sales of key, sought-after cards continue to set records.  In August 2022, a 1952 Mickey Mantle rookie card sold for $12.6 million (!!), shattering all prior records for the sale of a single sports card.  (Wash. Post, Aug. 12).

In the early 1990s, at the height of the last baseball card craze, the Silver Spring Armory was home to a recurring sports card show.  The Armory was demolished in 1998 to make way for the redevelopment of downtown Silver Spring.  Washington DC and its inner suburbs have lacked a significant sports card show for many years.

Mid-Atlantic Collectibles has brought sports card shows back to Washington, DC, back to Montgomery County, MD, and back to Silver Spring with hugely successful events in October 2022, February 2023, and June 2023, October 2023, and February 2024..

The May 18, 2024 Mid-Atlantic Sports Collectibles and Memorabilia Show will once again take place in the Great Hall of the Silver Spring Civic Building, just steps from where the original Silver Spring Armory once stood.

With plentiful parking in the adjacent municipal garage ($1.25/hr) and the metro nearby, the Mid-Atlantic Show will draw a crowd of all ages eager to buy, sell, and trade modern and vintage cards and collectibles of their favorite players and teams, as well as popular nonsports cards such as Pokemon, Marvel, and Star Wars.
